New technology enhances precision, improves patient outcomes and expands treatment capabilities
Marshall Health Network’s Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) has introduced Siemens Iconos Biplane Interventional Radiology system, marking a major advancement in diagnostic and interventional care. The new biplane suite, which opened November 3, brings next-generation imaging capabilities to support some of the most complex and time-critical procedures performed today.
The biplane system is especially valuable in interventional neuroradiology, offering precise visualization for the treatment of conditions such as aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and stroke. The technology enables clinicians to see both anatomical structures and interventional devices with exceptional clarity, allowing for safer, more targeted, and more effective treatment.
“Having the Siemens biplane system in our interventional radiology suite elevates the level of care we can provide in life-saving situations,” said Tim Martin, President, CHH. “It's real-time, high-contrast imaging allows our team to intervene faster and with greater precision, which is critical when every second matters.”
Common clinical applications also include trauma treatment, vessel procedures, and embolization therapies. The system’s advanced 3D imaging construction allows medical teams to visualize treatment areas from multiple angles, improving accuracy in even the most complex cases.
In addition to enhanced image quality, the Siemens biplane system improves patient safety by reducing radiation exposure up to 60%. Faster imaging acquisition and AI-assisted workflow tools also shorten overall procedure time, allowing for quicker interventions and recovery.
“With head-to-toe coverage and flexible positioning, this system ensures no part of the anatomy is out of reach,” said Nancy Godby, Director of Radiology, CHH. “It strengthens our ability to deliver high-level, minimally invasive care close to home.”
The new Simens Iconos Biplane technology is an important way Cabell Huntington Hospital is meeting its mission of Advancing Medicine and investing in technology that serves the patients of the tri-state region.
